CPA Continuing Education Class: Leadership & Growth Alliance
This course provides practical guidance for those involved with internal control responsibilities (auditing, monitoring, implementing, etc.) in adapting the 2013 COSO Internal Control – Integrated Framework (the COSO framework) to small and medium-sized entities. Internal control concepts are applicable to every entity, regardless of size. However, there is no “one size fits all” set of rules that can be applied to all entities. Often times the internal control “best practices” that have evolved over time are based upon large entity environments and these “best practices” are not necessarily relevant to small- and medium-sized entities. This course will show you some best practices for designing, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and auditing cost-effective internal controls for small- and medium sized entities.
The Leadership & Growth Alliance is a growing community of Arizona professionals, within the first 10 years of their CPA career, who are looking to develop leadership skills and get involved in the profession and the local community.
New alliance members participate in a five-part professional development series in which they will:
- Attend exclusive events designed specifically for series participants, earning up to 10 hours of CPE (based on individual attendance)
- Develop leadership skills and knowledge in areas such as communication, self-awareness, entrepreneurship and wellness strategies
- Network and collaborate with series participants, alliance alumni and ASCPA Board of Directors
- Access to the online Alliance Community in Connect and early access to future alliance sponsored events hosted by the ASCPA
Michael S. Seaver, executive coach, leadership consultant and author is one of the featured speakers and kicks off the series August 20 with a session on improving leadership through balance and well-being. You will walk away with resources, tools and an action plan to uncover the level of work-life integration most meaningful to you and to help those around you do the same.
Aaron Peterson, internationally recognized trainer and speaker with over 28 years of experience in local government, will be facilitating a session on emotional intelligence. During this interactive session, you will examine your individual emotional intelligence level and discuss the steps you can use to start benefiting from the knowledge gained from emotional intelligence.
